Two Megafire Status Wildfires Devastate Western US, Ravaging California & Arizona

Multiple wildfires are tearing across the West US, fueled by extreme heat, dry vegetation, and gusty winds. States like California, Arizona, and Utah are now battling large-scale fires.

A devastating wildfire, named the Dragon Bravo Fire, is raging in Arizona, burning along the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. It has scorched nearly 132,309.5 acres since a lightning strike ignited it on July 4. This fire has reached mega fire status, and it’s currently the largest active blaze in the country. The blaze is now 29% contained. The fire has destroyed multiple structures, including the historic Grand Canyon Lodge.

Another massive wildfire, named the Gifford fire, is tearing through California’s Los Padres National Forest. The fire has already scorched 99,232 acres in coastal Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties, north of Los Angeles. With over 800 structures at risk, containment remains low at 15%. Several other wildfires remain active across the state of California.

In Utah, the Monroe Canyon Fire is burning 5 Miles Southeast of Monroe, Fishlake National Forest. The fire has scorched 66,275 acres and is now 18% contained.
