Northeast Storm Aftermath Brings Power Outages and Floods
The Northeast US is currently dealing with the Northeast storm aftermath following a powerful storm that has led to widespread power outages and significant flooding. The storm initially hit Florida and affected four states before moving towards the Northeast over the weekend and continuing into Monday.
In South Carolina, the Northeast storm aftermath was felt with more than six inches of rain on Sunday, causing substantial flooding. As the storm system moved across the Northeast on Monday, it unleashed strong winds and heavy rain, resulting in 2 to 4 inches of water over much of the region within 24 hours. Areas northwest of New York City reported more than five inches of water, highlighting the severity of the Northeast Storm Aftermath.
Northern New Jersey faced significant disruptions due to the storm, with the National Weather Service predicting major flood stages by Tuesday. The Northeast Storm Aftermath also included multiple water rescues in Maine and New Hampshire.
Despite the storm moving into Canada by late Monday, its effects lingered, with the threat of flooding remaining active in multiple communities, particularly in parts of Maine, where a flash flood warning was in effect through early Tuesday.
The Northeast storm aftermath saw more than 660,000 customers without power across the Northeast, most of them in Maine. The storm began its path on Saturday, impacting Florida and then moving along the Southeast and mid-Atlantic coasts on Sunday, bringing powerful winds and record-breaking rainfall.
