Heavy Rains, Winds, and Flood Threats Escalate from Florida to the Northeast

An intense storm that initially struck Florida with heavy rains and strong winds is now making its way up the East Coast, posing threats of floods, dangerous surf, power outages, and travel disruptions. The storm has caused significant rainfall in several Southeast cities, including more than 12 inches near Georgetown, South Carolina, and substantial amounts in Gainesville and Jacksonville, Florida.

Harbor experienced intense winds, leading to its fourth-highest tide on record. The National Weather Service predicts up to four inches of rainfall across New York City and northeastern New Jersey. Authorities have issued flood watches for areas east of Interstate 95 in Washington and Baltimore, while the Allegheny Mountains could receive up to 10 inches of snow.

A tornado was reported near Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, but no injuries were seen and immediately reported. A tornado watch was in effect for coastal parts of North Carolina, Highlighting storm’s severity.

The storm is forecasted to reach its peak strength on Monday, delivering disruption to a large portion of the Northeast. The storm’s exact track remains uncertain, but its impact is expected to be felt widely across the coastal Northeast on Monday.
