Deadly Wildfires Prompt Evacuation of Over 13,000 People in Alberta, Canada: Actionable Insights Available on EigenPrism
There are currently 78 active wildfires in Alberta, 19 of which are out of control. Spring wildfires are particularly dangerous in Alberta, and the area has been experiencing strong winds and unusually high temperatures. Ongoing blazes have already forced almost 13000 residents to evacuate their homes. In addition, 11000 acres of land in Fox Lake and 3700 acres in Drayton Valley have been torched.
The municipalities of Yellowhead County and Edson have ordered immediate evacuations, while the mandatory evacuation order has been expanded in Lac Ste. Anne County and portions of Big Lakes County. In northeastern British Columbia, the evacuation order for the Boundary Lake wildfire has also been expanded.
