US West Coast Could See Snow Up to 10 Feet
As per the NWS, an atmospheric river event will impact the US West Coast this week, bringing rain, heavy snow and wind conditions in areas from Canada to Mexico.
From Wednesday into Thursday, a warmer storm system will bring snow only to the highest elevated region. Post that, into the week, a much colder and more significant storm system may bring snow closer to sea level in places like Oregon and Washington – bringing a ‘White Christmas’ to cities like Portland and Seattle.
As per the NWS, the Sierra Nevada mountains can see snow up to 5 – 8 feet, and isolated snow even up to 10 feet in some regions. The places in low elevation are likely to see rain up to 1 to 3 inches, potentially raising threat of flash flooding and mudslides.
