Tropical Storm Wanda Strengthens in the North Atlantic
According to the National Hurricane Center, Tropical Storm Wanda has gained strength over the North Atlantic today. First, a subtropical stormed that formed over the weekend, Wanda – is the 21st named storm of 2021 Atlantic season. Wanda’s formation came from the same low-pressure system that impacted New England as Nor’easter last week. The low-pressure system moved eastwards through Atlantic over the past few days and slowly transitioned into a subtropical storm during the weekend.
Wanda is located far from the land in the north-central Atlantic Ocean, where it will meander the next few days, as per the NHC. It will not intensify into a hurricane. Wanda is not likely to affect any land areas.
So far, the 2021 Atlantic season has been quite active – with 21 named storms, including 7 that became hurricanes. Four of those hurricanes became major hurricanes (category 3 or higher). After Tropical Storm Wanda, we will see Adria, Braylen, Caridad, Deshawn and so on.
