Tropical Storms Peter and Rose Form in the Atlantic, Pose No Threat to Land
According to the National Hurricane Center, Tropical storm Peter and Rose are currently tracking through the Atlantic – becoming 16th and 17th named storms of 2021 Atlantic season.
Tropical Storm Peter
Peter is currently tracking 245 miles ENE of the Northern Leeward Islands with maximum sustained winds of 50mph. Peter is forecasted to turn northwest and then northward into the central Atlantic. It will further track northwards towards the Lesser Antilles into the week.
The storm is not likely to gain strength. Locally heavy rain is possible through Tuesday and Peter can generate high surf. Peter poses no threat to the United States because of a cold front sweeping off the East Coast later this week.
Tropical Storm Rose
Rose is currently tracking 550 miles west of the Southernmost Cabo Verde Islands with maximum sustained winds of 40mph. The storm is forecasted to track northwestward into the open Atlantic waters and poses no threat to land.
Rose will weaken to a tropical depression later this week, as per the NHC.
