Tropical Storm Lisa Expected to Hit Belize as a Hurricane
According to the NHC, Tropical Storm Lisa is strengthening in the western Caribbean Sea and is
anticipated to hit Belize later today as Category 1 hurricane.
Currently, Lisa is situated about 235 miles east of Belize City and about 130 miles northeast of the island of Roatan in
Honduras. The storm system is traveling with a wind speed of 15 mph.
As Lisa makes landfall, dangerous life-threatening storm surge, along with flooding and destructive winds are
anticipated near the Belizean coast.
The Belizean government issued a hurricane warning for the country’s coastline. After striking Belize, Lisa is likely to
hit Guatemala on Thursday, before dissipating far Southeast of Mexico on Friday.
