Torrential Rains Bring Massive Flood in Mississippi
Heavy Rainfall from Tuesday night to Wednesday resulted in flooding of roads and highways around Central Mississippi, causing a flash flood emergency to be declared throughout that region, including Jackson City.
More than 6 inches of rain has poured in the city since Wednesday morning, and at least 28 instances of flash flooding were reported. Flooding in the region has caused damage to Interstate 55 and Highway 489 in Newton County, 70 miles East of Jackson.
More than 5,000 people were without power as of Wednesday afternoon, according to PowerOutage.US.
