South Texas Braces for Dangerous Flash Flooding as Torrential Rain Looms

Southern Texas faces a growing threat of dangerous flash flooding as forecasters predict widespread rainfall of up to 8 inches through Saturday. Areas most at risk include Corpus Christi, Laredo, Victoria, and Brazosport, with more than a million residents under a Flood Watch.

According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, “numerous flash floods are likely,” with the possibility of severe flooding events as another storm system moves through Friday into Saturday. Forecasters warn that the ongoing drought could worsen the situation, as hardened soils may lead to rapid runoff, increasing the risk of flash flooding.
