Severe Storms Continue to Batter Central and Eastern US, Triggering Floods and Damaging Winds
Severe storms swept across more than a dozen states on Tuesday, stretching from Texas to New York, with Missouri bearing the brunt of the early impacts. Southwestern Minnesota reported hailstones reaching up to 2 inches in diameter.
Some of the most intense storms emerged later in the evening across southeastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania. In these areas, destructive winds stronger than those seen in low-end tornadoes uprooted trees from saturated ground and tore roofs from buildings.
Earlier in the day, Oklahoma City was placed under a flash flood warning due to persistent heavy rainfall. Smaller cities like Lawton and Moore in Oklahoma also faced localized flooding concerns. The severe weather threat is not over, storms are forecast to continue into Wednesday, placing approximately 11 million people at risk from central Texas to northern Arkansas.

Severe Storms Threaten Millions Across US From Texas to the Great Lakes
Over 60 million people across the US, from Texas to the Great Lakes, were under severe weather alerts on Sunday and Monday. On Monday afternoon, severe thunderstorms caused hazardous conditions in Minnesota, where the National Weather Service confirmed a tornado near Fairmont.
The threat of severe weather will continue till Tuesday, with an enhanced risk stretching from central Ohio to western New York. These areas could see strong winds, large hail, and tornadoes. A slight risk for severe storms also extends from western Texas up to northern Vermont.
At the same time, flash flooding is a growing concern. The Weather Prediction Center has placed parts of Texas, Oklahoma, including Oklahoma City, Kansas, and Missouri, under a Level 3 out of 4 risk for heavy rainfall and potential flooding on Tuesday.
