Deadly Storms Spawn Destructive Tornadoes Across Central and Eastern US
A severe weather outbreak that began on Friday has brought tornadoes, large hail, damaging winds, and torrential rainfall across the central and eastern US. Multiple tornadoes have been spawned across the different states creating widespread destruction and causing fatalities. Ongoing storm surveys will determine the final tornado count in the coming days. Preliminary assessments indicate at least two EF4 tornadoes, four EF3s, nine EF2s, 11 EF1s, and one EF0.
At least five tornadoes were reported across Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas on Sunday, causing widespread destruction. Mississippi suffered multiple fatalities as storms uprooted trees and tore apart homes.
Two locations in Arkansas experienced EF4-level damage. One tornado struck near Diaz, roughly 93 miles northeast of Little Rock, with estimated peak winds reaching 190 mph. According to the National Weather Service, another tornado near Larkin, Izard County, recorded peak winds of 170 mph.

Mar 16 | Over 40 Tornadoes Tear Through Eight States in the US, Causing Widespread Destruction
Over the past 24 hours, more than 40 tornadoes have been reported across eight states in the Midwest and South, with the threat of dangerous weather still ongoing. At least 34 people have lost their lives in the US, with Missouri alone accounting for 12 fatalities. The violent storms flipped vehicles, demolished homes, and left widespread destruction in their wake.
A damage assessment team confirmed that a tornado in Cave City, Arkansas, reached EF3 intensity. According to Power Outage, more than 250,000 properties across seven states, including Michigan, Missouri, and Illinois, were without electricity as of Sunday morning. The severe weather system continued to trigger multiple tornado warnings, particularly in Alabama, where alerts were issued on Saturday night.
