Multi-Hazard Storm Sweeps US Impacting Central and Eastern US, Also Threatening The South
A multi-hazard storm that brought tornadoes, snow, and freezing rain to the northern US is
moving east and posing the threat of worsening weather. The Florida Panhandle, far southeast Alabama, some of
Georgia, the East Coast, and southeast Virginia are all at risk for large hail, severe winds, and
tornadoes.
Winds and tornadoes may affect cities including Tallahassee, Albany, Charlotte, Virginia
Beach, Atlanta, Raleigh, and Norfolk. Heavy rain may cause flash flooding is areas of Mississippi.
Tornado-producing storms which moved into the South and Southeast after slamming California with devastating floods, have already left
a path of destruction. The storm generated more than 130 storm reports over the course of the last two days. There
have been 12 reports of tornadoes, almost 100 of wind, and 27 of hail, according to
SPC. An EF-1 tornado tore through Jessieville on Monday, six tornadoes
were reported in Illinois on Tuesday. Arkansas. Louisiana, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Georgia, and Mississippi also
reported tornadoes.
On Tuesday, this storm also dropped a frosty mix of snow, freezing rain, and sleet from the
Northern Plains to the area around the Upper Great Lakes. Parts of the Mississippi and Ohio River Valley received up
to 6 inches of rain, whereas isolated locations in eastern Arkansas received 10 inches.
