Massive Wildfire in New Jersey Scorches 13,250 Acres and Threatens Over 1,300 Structures

A large wildfire, named the Jones Road Wildfire, exploded in the Greenwood Forest Wildlife Management Area located in Ocean County, New Jersey on Apr 22, 2025. It continues to rage across New Jersey on Thursday, having consumed over 13,250 acres already. About 5,000 residents have been forced to evacuate.

The inferno threatened more than 1,300 structures, and several buildings within an industrial park in Lacey Township were destroyed on Wednesday. Although no injuries were reported, the fire caused widespread disruption. As of an update on Thursday, the New Jersey Forest Fire Service said the fire was 50% contained.
