Magnitude 6.4 Earthquake Jolts California, Leaving Thousands Without Power

Early Tuesday, a 6.4-magnitude earthquake shook the Eureka region in Northern California. It caused extensive damage to homes and roads, leaving thousands without electricity. More than 71,000 power outages were reported. The tremors damaged part of the Fernbridge, which carries State Route 211 over the Eel River.

The earthquake’s epicenter was located in the Pacific, around 9 miles from Ferndale and 15 miles from Fortuna.

Following that, the region was hit by more than two dozen minor earthquakes, some of which reached 4.6 magnitudes.
