Multiple Thunderstorms to Impact Central and Eastern US, Tornadoes, Hail and Damaging Wind Likely
A significant weather event is likely to produce multiple severe thunderstorms in Central and Eastern US through this week, as a couple of upper-level disturbances track eastward. The systems are likely to bring damaging gusts and multiple tornadoes are possible.
On Sunday, the first disturbance produced multiple tornadoes from Missouri to Southern Illinois. Four houses were destroyed by a tornado in Missouri, as per the Storm Prediction Center report. Consequently, as this system tracks farther east, multiple severe thunderstorms are likely to occur. They are expected to stretch from the Central and Southern Appalachians to the Carolinas and mid-Atlantic.
After that, second round of strong thunderstorms will likely be in the Plains from Tuesday when another potent disturbance moves out of the Rockies. NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center forecasts an area from Southern Nebraska into Kansas, Oklahoma and west-central Texas as having a greater chance of seeing severe thunderstorms. Furthermore, this could also include an area from Southeast Texas to Louisiana, Southern Mississippi and Southern Alabama.
Lastly, the system could produce some additional severe weather on Thursday along the Eastern Coast and in parts of the Southeast, as per the Center.
