Powerful storms repeatedly struck parts of the South and Midwest late last week and over the weekend has come to an end, but the danger is far from over in communities across the Midwest and South as rivers continue to flood the region and force families to evacuate their homes.
Major flooding is expected to continue through the end of the week. Several states are still grappling with rising water levels, with the National Weather Service reporting that rivers in at least six states have reached the “major flood” stage. Flooding concerns also persist across parts of Ohio, where water levels continue to surge.

April 07 | Days of Torrential Rain Trigger Widespread Flood Emergencies from Texas to Ohio
Several days of intense rainfall have caused rivers to swell rapidly, triggering flood emergencies from Texas to Ohio. Several areas in Tennessee and Kentucky have recorded rainfall totals in the double digits, marking this as a historic weather event. In Kentucky, river levels have led to road closures and ongoing water rescues in inundated communities.
The excessive rainfall has caused moderate to major flooding along many of the region’s rivers. In Arkansas, widespread damage includes fallen trees, power lines, and a train derailment caused by a collapsed bridge. In Cabot, located in rural central Arkansas, several homes were surrounded by floodwaters.
