Australia Battered By Catastrophic Flooding
Heavy rains triggered flash and riverine flooding across large regions of New South Wales and Victoria, creating dangerous conditions and causing 17 flood warnings across regions. This is Australia’s fourth major flooding this year, which saw wild weather pummel parts of southwest New South Wales (NSW) and Victoria overnight, bursting rivers and wreaking havoc for flood-weary residents.
As per the news reports, on November 14th, many roads, bridges and farms were submerged causing significant damage in the NSW region. Thunderstorms also lashed the state of South Australia over the weekend. Many schools were forced to shut down, and thousands of residents faced power outages.
Australia’s east coast is suffering from a rare third straight year of the La Nina weather phenomenon – which is associated with increased rainfall.
