California Braces as Heavy Rain and High Tides Cause Flash Flooding

California has endured intense flash flooding over the past two days as heavy rain and high tides inundated many communities. Powerful storms drenched the Bay Area and Southern California, leading to widespread flooding, road closures, and emergency rescues. In the San Francisco Bay Area, unusually high “king tides combined with persistent rainfall caused streets to submerge, prompting flood watches across five northern counties.

In Southern California, downpours caused mudslides and flooding, forcing hundreds to evacuate a downtown San Diego homeless shelter and resulting in at least one fatality after a man was swept into a creek in Santa Barbara County.

National Weather Service warn that additional rain and flood potential will continue through the coming days as the unsettled weather pattern persists, urging residents to remain cautious and heed flood warnings.
