5.2-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Near Julian in San Diego, Triggering Series of Aftershocks
A magnitude 5.2 earthquake rattled Southern California on Monday morning. Its epicenter was located approximately 2.5 miles south of Julian in San Diego County, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). It was initially reported as a magnitude 6.7 earthquake.
The tremor was widely felt throughout Southern California and extended into northern Mexico. Despite its strength, there were no immediate reports of significant structural damage. Following the initial quake, the USGS recorded a series of smaller aftershocks in the area. At least seven occurred within the first hour.
