EF-2 Tornado Strikes Seminole County, Destroying Homes and Uprooting Trees
An EF-2 tornado with peak winds reaching 115 mph tore through Lake Mary in Seminole County on Monday morning, causing extensive damage. The storm destroyed two homes, uprooted trees, and overturned a semi-trailer as it moved through the area. During a live news broadcast, the tornado struck the FOX 35 Orlando television station.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the tornado first touched down east of Wekiwa Springs State Park, where it initially produced wind speeds of up to 95 mph as it tore through the Wingfield Reserve neighborhood. As it moved into the Whispering Winds subdivision, the storm intensified, briefly reaching 115 mph winds, classifying it as an EF-2 tornado.
