Severe Storm Sweeps Across Central and Southern US, Bringing Risk of Tornadoes and High Winds
A powerful storm system is sweeping across the central and southern US, putting 55 million people at risk of severe weather on Tuesday. A high wind warning has been issued, with sustained winds between 20 and 30 mph and gusts potentially exceeding 50 mph.
Additionally, a tornado watch is in effect for parts of Texas and Oklahoma, affecting nearly 3 million residents. The storm is capable of producing wind gusts up to 70 mph and hail as large as 1.5 inches in diameter.
By late Tuesday morning, the storm is expected to intensify as it moves east, threatening the Lower Mississippi River Valley with severe storms. These storms are forecast to persist into Tuesday night, increasing the risk of especially dangerous nighttime tornadoes.
