Winter Storm Targets Central and Eastern US with Heavy Snow and Ice Amid Ongoing Flood Threats
A powerful winter storm is set to impact a vast portion of the US, placing nearly 60 million people under winter weather alerts from the Central Plains to the Carolina coast. This storm comes on the heels of the recent deadly winter storm that flooded the South, Midwest, and Northeast. Emergency crews in Kentucky and West Virginia are working urgently to complete flood rescues before the arrival of hazardous winter conditions.
As the storm moves eastward, snow and ice alerts have been issued across at least 25 states, stretching from Montana to Texas and as far east as Delaware. By late Wednesday, regions spanning eastern Kentucky to southern West Virginia are expected to receive between 4 to 6 inches of snow. At the same time, parts of southeast Virginia and northeast North Carolina could see accumulations exceeding 8 inches. Strong winds accompanying the storm may further complicate travel and increase the risk of power outages in affected areas.

Feb 17 | Deadly Storm Unleashes Tornadoes, Flooding, and Life-Threatening Cold Across the US
A deadly winter storm continues to impact the South, Midwest, and Northeast with flooding, tornadoes, and extreme cold. Kentucky has reported at least nine deaths and historic flood levels, prompting emergency declarations and hundreds of rescues. On February 15, several tornadoes were confirmed across Tennessee, Mississippi, and Alabama, including an EF2 tornado in Tennessee, that caused significant structural damage. The following day, additional tornadoes touched down in Alabama and Louisiana, leaving widespread damage and power outages.
While the storm has shifted east, flooding remains a significant risk in the Tennessee and Ohio Valleys, with riverbanks expected to overflow in the coming days. Simultaneously, the central U.S. braces for life-threatening cold, with wind chills potentially dropping to 60 below zero in some areas.

A major storm is hitting the eastern US, bringing heavy rain, snow, ice, and severe thunderstorms.
Meteorologists warn of historic flooding, with a Level 4 risk in parts of Tennessee and Kentucky, where rainfall may reach 2 inches per hour.
