Widespread Winter Storm to Bring Heavy Snow, Freezing Rain, and Flooding Across the US
A powerful winter storm is set to impact vast portions of the United States, bringing heavy snowfall, freezing rain, and dangerously low temperatures below seasonal averages. The storm, expected to arrive on Tuesday, will deliver between 4 and 8 inches of snow from northeastern Kentucky to Virginia, including areas along the Interstate 95 corridor.
In addition to snow, the system will unleash significant rainfall across the South and Southeast, raising concerns about localized flooding. According to the Weather Prediction Center (WPC), over 34 million Californians are under a Level 2 out of 4 risk for flooding rainfall on Thursday. The affected region includes major cities such as San Francisco, Sacramento, and Los Angeles.
Flood watches have also been issued for parts of Kentucky, Virginia, Tennessee, and Georgia, where rainfall totals could reach up to six inches in some locations.
