Tornadoes and Winter Storm in the Northeast US: Assess the Impact
A large-scale winter storm moving across the US is producing heavy snow from eastern New
Mexico through Oklahoma, according to NWS’s Weather Prediction Center. Whereas, Northeastern Arkansas, Southern
Missouri, and Eastern Oklahoma have received heavy snow. As of Thursday, more than a dozen tornadoes were reported
to have hit different parts of Texas and Louisiana, damaging many properties.
More than 100,000 homes and businesses across Arkansas, Missouri, and Texas were without
power. Arkansas alone suffered 70,000 power outages.
On Tuesday, The towns of Deer Park and Pasadena in the Houston region saw significant
tornado damage. The storm left streets filled with downed trees and debris.
In Maine, heavy snowfall of up to 10 inches is expected. The storm is forecasted to
bring more snow and churn out more tornadoes.
