Hurricane Orlene, a Category 4 hurricane, to Hit Western Mexico Later Today
Hurricane Orlene strengthens into a Category 4 storm and is expected to hit Western Mexico later today. The hurricane is anticipated to make landfall in Mazatlán, Sinaloa causing life-threatening flash flooding.
As of Sunday morning, the storm was moving north at 7 mph Sunday morning approximately 175 miles south of Las Islas Marias, Mexico. It had maximum sustained winds of 130 mph.
The storm is forecasted to cause landslides, storm surge, and intense rainfall of 3 to 5 inches along the coast of Western Mexico.
