Earthquake of 6.9 Magnitude Strikes Taiwan
A 6.9-magnitude earthquake struck Southeastern Taiwan on Sunday, September 18, leaving a trail of destruction and threats of a tsunami.
The Chishang township in rural Southeast Taiwan was the epicenter of the earthquake, which had a depth of 10 kilometers. Most of the damage from the earthquake occurred north of the epicenter including Yuli town, Tauyoan city, and Taipei.
The Japan Meteorological Agency issued a tsunami warning for Miyako Island in the East China Sea, however, it was later canceled.
