Hurricane Danielle Becomes First Named Atlantic Storm of 2022
According to the National Hurricane Center’s report, Hurricane Danielle has become the first hurricane of the season with sustained winds of 75 mph and considerably faster gusts.
Despite being the first hurricane in the Atlantic Basin in 2022, Danielle offers little threat to land as it meanders over the North Atlantic over the next few days before moving to the northeast early next week.
According to the hurricane center, Danielle will only strengthen to a Category 2 storm during the course of the weekend. The main area of concern is still far out in the Atlantic. Fortunately, it only poses a threat to shipping systems, as it drifts over the coming days and starts to slowly move toward the northeast.
