Torrential Downpour Hits Southeast Queensland and parts of New South Wales, Australia

Torrential rainfall lashed Australia’s Southeast Queensland and parts of New South Wales and caused flash flooding in the region.

Queensland authorities have warned residents not to travel because the roads and bridges are impacted by the deluge. The new powerhouse site in Parramatta was also flooded on Tuesday. In addition to this, parts of the Sunshine Coast saw excessive rainfall with over 300 millimetres in less than six hours.

Heavy rainfall and life-threatening weather continues to wreak havoc across Queensland’s south-east coast. As a result the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) has issued a flood watch for the region.

The weather system is expected to move towards the Gold Coast today. Residents have been warned to brace for extremely heavy rainfall, potential flash floods and hazardous winds.
