Washington DC Receives Record-setting Snow
According to the news by CNN, Washington, DC, and the surrounding regions received record-breaking snow on Monday, as a significant storm system moves across the eastern US. Washington measured snow about 8.5 inches, making it the heaviest one-day snow total since 2016. Parts of Maryland, recorded snow around 11.5 inches leading to massive power outages in the region. As of Monday evening, more than 500,000 residents faced power outages, out of which, Virginia had the most of about 350, 000.
Going ahead, the storm is expected to bring heavy snow, wind gusts, and coastal flooding in New Jersey. The state has declared emergency for five counties in preparation for the storm. Certain areas of southwestern New Jersey has already received between 1 to 4 inches of snow, while the southeastern area reported between 6 to 11 inches.
