Nor’easter Drenches the East Coast

Nor’easter brought damaging winds and flooding rainfall to the Northeast on Tuesday night. Damaging winds hit southeast New England the hardest Tuesday night into early Wednesday. More than 460,000 homes and businesses in Massachusetts and 580,00 in New England faced power outage as of early Wednesday morning.
Wind gusts up to 94 mph and up to 5 inches of rainfall was recorded in parts of the Northeast. However, conditions are expected to improve today as the storm moves away, as per the National Weather Service (NWS).

Oct 26| Nor’easter to Lash US East Coast with Heavy Rainfall and Flooding
According to the National Weather Service, a Nor’easter will bring flooding rainfall and damaging winds to the US East Coast this week. An upper-level disturbance over the Northeast is helping to intensify a low-pressure system off the US East Coast today. As per the Weather Channel, “It’s possible that the low intensifies enough to be a bomb cyclone — a term for a low-pressure system whose central pressure plunges by at least 24 millibars in 24 hours or less.”
Some parts of the Northeast has already started witnessing the impact of the system. On Tuesday morning, there were reports of considerable rainfall and flooding in New Jersey, especially in parts of Monmouth and Somerset counties. The NWS has issued flood watches from parts of New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania into the New York Tri-State area and southern New England.
As the low pressure system moves farther away from the coast, rain will taper off from west to east over the Northeast on Wednesday. Rainfall up to 1 to 5 inches (locally higher) is likely to occur from New York to Boston. Higher gusts will be more near coastal areas from New Jersey into New England.
